Each antique print is about 6”x 9”overall the copper engraving is about 4 ½” x 7 ½”. Aquatints by Thomas Rowlandson. Original Hand Colored Prints. Good and interesting subject impressions. Thomas Rowlandson’s designs were usually done in outline with the reed-pen, and delicately washed with color. They were than etched by the artist on copper, and afterwards aquatinted --usually by a professional engraver, the impressions being finally colored by hand. These wonderful antique prints are from the tour Search of Picturesque of Dr Syntax.’ Dr Syntax is a frictional 19th-century English Clergyman. Thomas Rowlandson ability to draw both animation and real like facial expressions make this collection of copper engravings a truly great example of early English caricature.
Each of the copper engravings are dated 1812 and show the month of May. They were published by R. Ackermann of Strand London.

The print comes with the original text (some pages maybe a photocopy). The print is approximately 9” x 12” there is light browning to the paper around edges which is normal to prints of this age but there is no foxing and the colors are very bright. The print has been scanned and cropped but really doesn’t do justice to the condition and color of this print. This print would look great Botanicals, Wild Flowers, American Wild Flowers , Antique Botanical Prints by Isaac Sprague 1880."

The other wild animals are by far more beautiful than the later editions because of the in creditable detail black and white back grounds, later editions don’t have back grounds. Fine 18th Century Antique Prints drawn and engraved by Thomas Rowlandson 1756- 1827. From the tour “Search of Consolation” of Dr. Syntax. London, engraved lithographs about 1820. Each antique print is about 6”x 9”overall the engraving is about 4 ½” x 7 ½”. Aquatints by Thomas Rowlandson. Original Hand Colored Prints. Good and interesting subject impressions. Thomas Rowlandson’s designs were usually done in outline with the reed-pen, and delicately washed with color. They were than etched by the artist on copper, and afterwards aquatinted --usually by a professional engraver, the impressions being finally colored by hand. These wonderful antique prints are from the tour Search of Consolation of Dr Syntax.’ Dr Syntax is a frictional 19th-century English Clergyman. Thomas Rowlandson ability to draw both animation and real like facial expressions make this collection of lithographs a truly great example of early English caricature.
Each of the lithographs are dated 1820 and show the month which they were published by R. Ackermann of Strand London.
